Who we are

MobyFly is a technology company. We design and deliver premium, zero-emission hydrofoil boats for the fast ferry market.

We offer a cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable mass transport platform that benefits operators, municipalities, and passengers alike.

MobyFly is a technology company. We design and deliver premium, zero-emission hydrofoil boats for the fast ferry market — and we build our boats where we sell them, working with local manufacturing and infrastructure partners.

Our solution

Zero-emission fast ferries, delivered at scale.

Hydrofoil performance

By leveraging our advanced hydrofoil technology, MobyFly designs and delivers zero-emission boats that transport passengers comfortably and quietly at speeds over 60 km/h (32 kn) — without making waves, noise or polluting.

Highly cost-effective

Our boats use up to 80% less energy and save up to 60% on operational costs compared to any diesel ferries operating today.

Built where we sell

We build our boats where we sell them, working with local manufacturing and infrastructure partners to deliver each vessel to our design and specification. Experts unified by MobyFly’s technology, IP, and quality standards — the result: zero-emission boats, proven charging infrastructure, and competitive financial solutions, delivered at scale.

Why the GCC

A platform built for Gulf waters and Gulf ambitions.

Coastlines, island destinations and waterfront cities already have the demand. MobyFly supplies the vessel, the charging infrastructure and the financing route — with local manufacturing partners.

01

Shallow-water access

With the foils retracted, MobyFly boats navigate in waters as shallow as 60 cm, making docking and maneuvering effortless in existing marinas, creeks and lagoons.

02

Zero wake, zero emissions

No emissions, no wake, no noise — a transport solution that sits comfortably alongside waterfront development, tourism and marine conservation programmes.

03

Built in the region

MobyFly builds where it sells: local manufacturing and infrastructure partners deliver each vessel to MobyFly’s design, specification and quality standards.

Engineering

Our technology

Retractable foils, a proprietary electric pod motor and a software suite that keeps the vessel flying — and the operator in control.

Technology · 01

Retractable foil system for shallow-water navigation

Our retractable foil systems are protected by two international patents pending. This unique design enhances performance and offers unparalleled versatility and ease of use, enabling foiling trips in waves of up to 2.5 metres.

With the foils retracted, MobyFly boats can navigate in waters as shallow as 60 cm, making docking and maneuvering effortless. Given the reduced saltwater exposure, maintenance requirements are minimal and can even be performed without haulout.

Technology · 02

Zero-emission powertrain

MobyFly’s vessels are powered by electric batteries with proven reliability and range.

Proprietary software

Our software enables multiple real-time adjustments to the control surfaces, enabling the vessel to “fly” above the water.

Our software suite also includes support for operational data management, day-to-day fleet management, predictive maintenance, regular over-the-air performance upgrades, and remote tuning to ensure operations are at peak performance and cost-efficiency.

Electric pod motor

Our proprietary electric pod motor guarantees reliable and efficient operations.

Charging

Up to 320 kW DC on the MBFY-S and up to 480 kW DC on the MBFY-M, with on-grid or off-grid energy infrastructure as part of the integrated solution.

Performance of our prototype

The MBFY-10 was built as a performance demonstrator and has been in service since December 2022. It has sailed on Swiss lakes, the Douro River, and in Portuguese coastal areas. It is currently operating on Lake Geneva.

Economics

Lower total cost of ownership. Dramatically lower energy demand.

Reduced total cost of ownership

  • Higher CAPEX is swiftly offset by significantly lower OPEX
  • MobyFly’s electric powertrain sharply reduces the maintenance burden compared to marine diesel engines
  • Compared with diesel, energy costs are minimized by using electricity, combined with the high efficiency of MobyFly’s hydrofoil design
Line chart titled TCO Over Time: the cumulative total cost of ownership of a diesel boat rises faster and ends higher than that of a MobyFly vessel.

Technology · 03

Reduced energy consumption

Energy consumption drops significantly when the boat starts foiling.

Our foils work just like an airplane wing: with enough speed, they create lift, raising the hull above the water and allowing the boat to travel efficiently at high speed without making waves.

Chart comparing energy efficiency in kWh per km against boat speed: the foiling MBFY-10 uses far less energy than a comparable diesel vessel, with savings of 70 to 85 percent at higher speeds.

Environmental advantage

Silent. Smooth. Sustainable.

The environmental advantages of electric foiling — no emissions, no wake, no noise.

MobyFly MBFY-10 has almost zero wake compared with the lighter, smaller RIB running beside it.

Aerial view of a MobyFly vessel on foils leaving an almost invisible wake while a smaller RIB beside it cuts a large white wake.
Two boats, two wakes: the foiling MobyFly leaves almost nothing behind.

Zero-emission

Thanks to the low energy consumption, combined with 100% electric propulsion and fuelled with renewable electricity, MobyFly boats offer a smooth and comfortable zero-emission ride.

Negligible wake1 2

By cutting wave energy by up to 70%, foiling vessels limit shoreline erosion and sediment disturbance, actively preserving fragile littoral zones. This minimal wake profile can also offer a key operational advantage: potential exemption from speed limits.

Underwater noise reduction3 4

Foiling vessels significantly reduce noise in biologically sensitive frequency bands, lowering stress on marine wildlife. Above the water, passengers and coastal communities benefit from the quieter operation as well.
